In Memory of Jake Pavlica, a Great Friend of BeInstrumental

We are tremendously saddened by the recent sudden passing of our friend, Jake Pavlica. Jake was an early ambassador of BeInstrumental's and could always be counted on to lend a hand. His enthusiasm for the local music scene and his passion for the arts could not be matched.

BeInstrumental is humbled that Jake's family thought of our organization for friends and family to remember his spirit, and we have further created the BeInstrumental Jake Pavlica Memorial Fund to honor him. Donations made to Jake's Memorial Fund will be generously matched by BeInstrumental Board Members and will be used to help provide other aspiring musicians the opportunities to reach their goals.

Through music, we will help keep Jake Pavlica's spirit alive.

Jake’s Obituary can be found here.

JAZZ NIGHTS at The Brick Bar

Make plans to visit our newest outreach/fundraising initiative, JAZZ NIGHTS at The Brick Bar. JAZZ NIGHTS take place every Wednesday from 7 pm to 10 pm at The Brick Bar live music venue located in Downtown Toledo. There is no cover charge to attend.

These events serve as an opportunity to tell the important story of BeInstrumental to area music lovers and to raise funds for BeInstrumental's important music programming.

The JAZZ NIGHTS and fundraising efforts are sponsored in part by Deet's BBQ, The Brick Bar, Heidelberg Distributors, and Great Lakes Brewing.

These evenings of incredible jazz music are hosted by renowned drummer Scott Kretzer. He is joined by an ever-changing trio/quartet of notable jazz musicians from throughout the region.

The first set of the evening is a performance-oriented set by that evening's featured “house band.” The following two sets are structured as jam sessions, allowing visiting musicians to perform with the house band for a song or two.

This creates a highly creative, enjoyable music experience for the audience and an incredible educational performance opportunity for any musician who wishes to sit in!

BeInstrumental Awarded Significant Grant from Arts Commission

BeInstrumental has been awarded a $10,000 grant through the City of Toledo and Lucas County Arts Relief Grants program. This grant funding, administered by The Arts Commission, will provide economic relief to artists and organizations whose ability to earn income has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Arts Commission reported "This investment by the Lucas County Commissioners, Mayor Kapszukiewicz, and Toledo City Council sends a clear message that ours is a community that values the arts. This investment will help sustain the artists and small arts organizations that contribute so much to the quality of life and economy in our region.
